Curriculum Offer

As part of our commitment to helping PACE students reignite their passion for learning, we offer a wide range of awards and qualifications.  Our courses are designed to help young people develop a rounded set of skills that will still be of value in years to come.

GCSEs

Students can study for GCSEs at PACE in English Literature/Language, Mathematics and ICT, at both foundation and higher level. In addition there are the OCR Sports Science Award/Certificate and the OCR Science Award/Certificate available.

PACE Education is a registered examination centre, which means all pupils can sit GCSEs on the premises. We are fully equipped to take a student’s SEN requirements into account. So, if a young person needs to sit an exam alone, in the company of an exam reader, or needs to have extra time allocated, this can be arranged.

Functional Skills

Functional Skills are practical skills in English, Maths and ICT for all learners aged 14 and above. Functional Skills provide an individual with essential knowledge, skills and understanding that will enable them to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and work.

Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT are available at Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. Levels 1 & 2 are equivalent to a GCSE qualification. These qualifications can run alongside the main GCSE qualifications but can also be used as a stand-alone qualification depending on individual needs.

ASDAN award

PACE students can sign up for a Personal Development Programme with ASDAN. From short courses and certificates to diplomas, our ASDAN offering gives students the chance to grow and develop their interests in a practical way, as well as demonstrate maturity in the understanding of complex subjects.

Some of the main courses on offer at a variety of levels include: Diploma in Life Skills; Employability Qualification; Certificate in Career Planning; Award of Personal Effectiveness; Award/Certificate of Personal and Social Development; and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Other short courses are available: The Mathematics Award; The English Award; Citizenship; Enterprise; PSHE; Personal Finance Award; Sport and Fitness Award; Environmental Award; and Beliefs and Values Award.

Some additional popular ASDAN options include:

  • Animal Care Award
  • Leadership Award
  • Careers and Experiencing Work Award
  • Activities and Peer Tutoring Award
  • Foodwise Award
  • Football Award
  • International Award
  • Roadwise Award
  • Sex and Relationships Award

Just like the Functional Skills courses, the ASDAN award allows students to collect points that add up to GCSE equivalent qualifications.
